What the work actually is
A CFO function has a small number of jobs done consistently well. These are ours. Which of them you get, and how often, depends on your plan.
Cash flow forecasting
A 12-month cash flow forecast, built from your actual records and kept rolling — refreshed monthly on Growth and Scale — so decisions about hiring, equipment, and debt get made against what the cash will do, not what the P&L said last quarter. Forward-looking figures are estimates, are labelled as estimates, and carry their assumptions with them.
KPI dashboards and scorecards
A monthly KPI dashboard on every plan; custom scorecards on Growth and Scale, built around how your business actually earns. The point is fewer numbers, read more often — the seven-numbers-every-Monday discipline we wrote up in Insights.
Strategy sessions
Quarterly on Foundation, monthly 1:1 on Growth, weekly check-ins on Scale. Pricing, margin, headcount, capacity, the decision you've been circling for three months — worked through against the forecast, with a short written view afterward: what changed, what it means, what we would do.
Margin and profitability analysis
A quarterly margin deep-dive on Growth and Scale: where the profit actually comes from by service line, customer, or job — and where it quietly leaks. Most owners are surprised by at least one line of this the first time.
Banker, board, and investor support
Banker liaison on every plan — when your bank asks for numbers, we handle the conversation. Scale adds board and investor prep, multi-entity consolidation, capital strategy, and an annual budget workshop.
CPA oversight
The work is supervised by a licensed CPA through our affiliate, PizzelloCPA, PLLC. That's oversight of the advisory work — it is not tax preparation, audit, review, or any other attest service, and SmallBizCFO, Inc. is not a CPA firm. When you need a return prepared, that is a separate engagement with PizzelloCPA, PLLC.
What we deliberately don't do

- • Bookkeeping — we work from your books; we don't post them
